10 Foods That Help Control Blood Sugar Naturally

Managing diabetes doesn't have to be difficult. Our chief pharmacist, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, shares 10 everyday Indian foods that are scientifically proven to help regulate blood sugar levels.

1. Bitter Gourd (Karela): Contains polypeptide-p, a plant insulin that helps lower blood sugar. Try having karela juice in the morning. 2. Fenugreek Seeds (Methi): Rich in soluble fibre that slows glucose absorption. Soak overnight and eat in the morning. 3. Cinnamon (Dalchini): Even a half teaspoon daily can improve insulin sensitivity. Add to chai without sugar. 4. Turmeric (Haldi): Curcumin reduces inflammation linked to insulin resistance. Have warm turmeric milk at night. 5. Amla (Indian Gooseberry): High in chromium, which regulates carbohydrate metabolism and improves insulin response.

Always consult your doctor before changing your diet significantly, especially if you are on diabetes medication. Our pharmacist is available for free consultation.

Vitamins and supplements for immunity

Top 5 Vitamins for a Strong Immune System This Season

Seasonal changes bring common colds and flu. Our senior pharmacist Ms. Priya Kulkarni recommends these 5 key nutrients to help your immune system stay strong.

Vitamin C: The classic immunity booster. Aim for 500–1000mg daily during high-risk seasons. Available OTC and we stock several trusted brands. Vitamin D3: Most Indians are deficient in Vitamin D, which plays a critical role in immune defence. A weekly 60,000 IU dose (on prescription) is commonly recommended by doctors.

Zinc: Supports immune cell production. Zinc lozenges can also reduce the severity of cold symptoms. B-Complex: Supports energy metabolism and immune function. Especially important for vegetarians who may miss B12. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Reduces inflammation and supports overall immune health. Available in fish oil or plant-based variants.

Our store stocks all these supplements. Use the enquiry form or call us for brand recommendations based on your budget.

Reading a prescription medicine label
PrescriptionsMarch 10, 2026Mr. Arjun Desai, Pharmacist

How to Read Your Prescription Label Correctly

Prescription labels contain critical information about your medicine but can be confusing. Our pharmacist explains the most common abbreviations you'll see on your prescription.

OD (Once Daily / Omni Die): Take the medicine once a day. BD / BID (Twice Daily): Take twice a day, usually morning and evening. TDS / TID (Three Times Daily): Take three times a day — usually morning, afternoon, and night. AC (Before Meals): Take 30 minutes before eating. PC (After Meals): Take shortly after meals. HS (At Bedtime / Hora Somni): Take at night before sleeping. SOS (When Necessary): Only take when symptoms appear; not a daily dose.

Never stop antibiotics midway and always check the expiry date. When in doubt, ask our pharmacist — it's free and we're always here.
